Rotring Esprit Telescopic Fountain Pen

[found this 2 in the wild. still finding the previous ones in my vault.]

The Rotring Esprit is a pocket-sized fountain pen with a telescoping barrel. It’s the nearly the same pen as the Parker Esprit, which is also made by Newell Brands.

The Rotring Esprit is an all-metal cartridge converter fountain pen that takes short international cartridges. The pen has a stainless steel nib, that is a very stiff steel design, similar to what Rotring is known for selling.

The key feature of the Esprit is that the grip section slides in and out of the body. This telescopic action happens when the pen is pulled, but not yet removed. When the cap and barrel are pulled in opposite directions the pen expands and grows from 11.9 cm to 13.7 cm, basically brings the Esprit from a pocket pen to a full-sized one. The barrel of the pen is line with a plastic sleeve which the section slides on. don't cap if you want to scratch the pen body.

The design of the Esprit is in keeping with Rotring’s early-to-mid-2000s designs. The pen has clean styling, a tight metal clip, and a prominent red ring. Like many Rotrings pens from that time, its design was copied and given to Parker to produce the Parker Esprit fountain pen. The Parker did have a different grip design and, as expected, Parker’s arrow clip.
